Abstract of Dr. Chen's Invited Talk
Now that Storage is Intelligent, the Possibilities are Unlimited
Data Migration (We know the logical storage layouts)
Storage Acceleration/Storage Composition (We have the control of the Storage Hypervisors)
Move Compute to Data (rather than the other way around).
Auto Configuration (We have access to the traffic patterns)
Data Access Traffic Pattern Analysis (Prediction for better resource management and MUCH lower cost)
Elastic Resource Allocation (To have a better cost structure)
Backup Appliances (ROI Revolution)
Empowering X86 Eco-System Participants (Connecting Any Storage System to OpenStack)
Summary
Software-Defined Storage is gaining traction and can be more feasible than Software-Defined Network.
Traditional Storage Provisioning will be Disrupted by the new technology.
It provides the emerging market a solution to address the needs of global market.
